WARSAW — A suspicious package at Warsaw’s post office has been rendered safe by authorities.

That’s according to an update from the Warsaw Police Department.

Around 2:33 p.m. Thursday, July 1, Warsaw Police were notified of a suspicious package on the property of the United States Postal Service located at 365 W. Market St., Warsaw, by USPS employees.

Warsaw Police investigators were assisted on scene by the Indiana State Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team, as well as E.O.D. members of the Federal Bureau of Investigations out of Fort Wayne, with the package that had been placed on the dock of the post office at an unknown time by an unknown person.  Markings on the package caused employees to be suspicious of its contents.

With the use of a bomb dog by Indiana State Police, as well as other E.O.D. resources, this package was rendered safe and did not present a danger to anyone once successfully opened and examined.

The scene was turned over to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service who also assisted Warsaw Police in this investigation. Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory was on scene for assistance as well.
